My life has been deeply touched and affected by the teachings of the great spiritual leader Thich Nhat Hanh. His insight and clarity is what taught me to transform my suffering. It was his teachings which taught me how to take rest in awareness. It was his teachings which introduced to me the wisdom and nature of inter-being and impermanence. Words cant begin to describe just how grateful I am to live in the same time and place as the great teacher Thich Nhat Hanh.
I was overwhelmed with emotions to hear the recent news of Thich Nhat Hanh being honored with the 2019 Gandhi Mandela Peace Medal. Thich Nhat Hanh’s influence as an activist for world peace among humanity is reminiscent of great spiritual figures like Jesus Christ and Siddhartha.
Please, if you are in the pursuit of happiness, do yourself a favor and read the teaching of the great leader. His book No Mud, No Lotus touched my heart more than any other book I’ve ever read.
“Being able to enjoy happiness doesn’t require that we that we have zero suffering. In fact, the art of happiness is also the art of suffering well. When we learn to acknowledge, embrace, and understand our suffering, we suffer much less. Not only that, but we are also able to go further and transform our suffering into understanding, compassion, and joy for ourselves and for others”
